Job/Task Description

Roles & Responsibilities:

Generic responsibilities:

  • Line management of CC project field staff
  • Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
  • Contribute to CC strategy development, project proposals and provide input on needs and gaps
  • Manage and implement delegated portfolio of CC projects (activities, budget and project documentation) as delegated from PM in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements, and ensure high technical quality
  • Provide regular progress reports to AM
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities
  • Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills
  • Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy

Specific responsibilities:

  • Develop NRC Bule Hora (West Guji/Gedeo) area Food Security and Livelihoods programming operational procedures, systems and programme guidance.
  • Ensure that the NRC Bule Hora Area Food Security and Livelihoods project integrates community approaches, household livelihood security, resilience/ recovery, gender sensitivity and capacity building into all activities as appropriate.
  • Participate in overall NRC Ethiopia Food Security Country Strategy strategic planning Core Competency Strategy, Macro-Log Frame, M&E, where needed.
  • Ensuring close participation of refugees, host communities and relevant stakeholders in design and development of programme.
  • Ensure the leadership of NRC Bule Hora for operationalization and management of Livelihoods Working Group (LWG) already established and led by NRC as key leading agency in Bule Hora areas.
  • Design systems and ensure accountability, specifically local beneficiaries, Local Government, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the beneficiary communities are participating as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of projects.
  • Ensuring that NRC Bule Hora Area Food Security and Livelihoods systems for monitoring project activities are developed and implemented.
  • Preparation of required reports to Area Manager, M&E Officer as well as quality control of project specific reports produced Food Security Project Officers.
  • As the overarching Food Security and Livelihoods budget holder, be accountable for all aspects of financial & resources management, PR’s, Po’s, Check signatories.

Job Requirements

Generic professional competencies:

·         BSC in Agriculture/Business Administration/Social Science and other related field of study

·         Experience from working as a Project Coordinator in a humanitarian/recovery context

·         Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts

·         Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities

·         Some knowledge of English

Context/ Specific Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

·         Local language

·         Understanding of various donors requirement

·         Ability to work under pressure

·         Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity
