Job/Task Description

Hope for Children Australia (HFC-Aus) is an Australian NGO, working in Ethiopia on community based initiatives which focus on education, health, and livelihoods. HFC-Aus is currently seeking a qualified M&E officer to be based at HFC head office in Shiromeda with extensive work in the community and at our other project sites in Addis Ababa.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure that an effective organization M&E system is established at the organization and across the organizations projects.
  • Prepare and revise the M&E plans and systems by seeking stakeholder inputs in order to produce these plans with the full commitment of all organizations involved in each project.
  • For each donor ensure that a detailed specification are prepared in a timely, objective fair and transparent manner, the M&E responsibilities and administration of terms and awards.
  • Mobilize relevant M&E technical assistance in a timely manner. With clearly demarcated responsibilities that are based on the participatory and equity principles of each project.
  • Develop an overall framework for project M&E for example annual project reviews, participatory impact assessments, process monitoring. Operations monitoring and lessons learned workshops.
  • Develop a plan for capacity building on M&E for the organization’s project staff;
  • Support ongoing program monitoring by ensuring timely collection, compilation, analysis, and reporting of data on programs.
  • Oversee preparation of M&E sections of quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports by compiling and presenting and ensuring the quality and consistency of data presented in said reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Country Representative

Job Requirements

Bachelors in economics, demography or management or preferably Master’s degree in demography, international development, or other related field plus four to five years working on M&E related activities, Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, set priorities, work independently and in a team environment, Ability to produce, edit, and assemble routine progress summaries for donor reporting  purposes, Experience with M&E capacity building for NGOs in Ethiopia, Demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, Good knowledge of spoken/written English, Energetic, dynamic and self-starters, A computer Knowledge is a must especially in MS-Excel and statistical data software.
