Job/Task Description


The purpose of this consultancy is to support all Operational Information Management (OIM) and Reporting activities contributing to the establishment and presentation of a standard common operating picture of WFP’s programme portfolio in Ethiopia, especially as it relates to the ongoing drought emergency, and associated outputs that facilitate informed and timely decision-making at all levels throughout the organization, in addition to partners and donors.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Carry out review of procedures for the collation and production of reports, documents and correspondence, to establish current effectiveness of system. Devise and implement a strategy/model that ensures effective internal processes for the collation and production of reports, documents and correspondence, and ensure that these meet the requirements of audiences and reflect the modern context of Ethiopia’s operations. Conduct training for programme, supply chain and other staff responsible for providing source material, including providing context for the requirements and ensuring provision of most relevant data.  Assist in collecting information and data from field operations, including through photography. Provide supervision to the Business Support Assistant and ongoing support to her/his daily duties and development.  Conduct ongoing monitoring and evaluation regarding the effectiveness of the system for collating reports, documents and correspondence, and implement changes where necessary.  Prepare operational updates and infographics for WFP RB/HQ and partners and donors; including updates on the emergency relief programme, the Targeted Supplementary Feeding Programme, and internal/external emergency situation reports in line with the CO-established reporting cycle and in line with corporate reporting requirements.  Prepare inputs and assist with the compilation of reports in line with WFP corporate reporting requirements. Create and maintain Country Office factsheets on core programmes, including relief, nutrition, refugees, climate resilience activities, PSNP and others.  Come up with new ideas for how the Country Office can manage, illustrate and share its information, including infographics and dashboards. Keep new products up-to-date.  Liaise with Country Office Programme/Food Security Cluster, Logistics, Donor Relations, Nutrition, Relief and Communications staff to gather information and maximize exchange of information and data flow; In addition, propose standard operating procedures for IM in the Country Office. Liaise with OCHA on inputs for their synthesized overall monthly external reports on the Ethiopia emergency response.  Liaise with other UN agencies and partners at the OCHA-chaired Inter-Agency Information Management Working Group (IMWG). Liaise with the WFP HQ Division of Emergencies Operations Centre (OPSCEN) on corporate reporting requirements and ad-hoc requests from WFP senior management at HQ in support to executive decision-making, including liaising with the OPSCEN regional focal point in support of HQ-level reporting and OIM activities, and Executive Board reporting requirements.  Other duties as may be required.

  • Evidence of skills development of supervisee Business Support Assistant.


Education: University degree in International Development, Monitoring & Evaluation, Information Management, Communications or other relevant field.

Expirence: Five or more years of progressively responsible work experience in the related business stream including experience in reporting, information management, infographics and communication.

Language: Fluency (level C) in English language.
